TIME 10 to 20 minutes per favor ............................... WHEN TO START 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding ............................... GROUP OR INDIVIDUAL Group ... • Station 1: Cut the fabric. • Station 2: Fill the favor boxes. • Station 3: Wrap the favors. BUDGET $150 to $250 for 100 wraps, excluding contents, depending on fabric cost MATERIALS Makes 100 favors • 17 yards lightweight fabric, such as cotton or silk (adjust to match favor size and fabric width) • Favor box (available from packaging or baking supply stores; optional) • Favor contents TOOLS • 12-inch or longer ruler (we recommend a clear, gridded quilting ruler, such as Omnigrid) • Large cutting mat (at least 12 × 18 inches recommended) • Rotary cutter with extra blades HOW TO 1.

4. Make the ring pillowcase. Using your rotary cutter, cut two squares of outer fabric measuring 8 1/2 × 8 1/2 inches. Layer the two squares, one on top of the other, wrong-side out. Sew along the edge, 1/4 inch in from the sides, using a running stitch, to form a C shape. Prior to sewing the third side, turn your fabric right-side out and slip it over the pillow insert. Check to make sure that the insert fits snugly into the ring pillowcase and is neither too loose nor too tight. Mark the placement of the third seam with a pin, remembering that the raw edges of the seam will take up a bit of space, turn inside out, and finish sewing the third side and the rest of the C shape on the fourth side (figure 6).

Pull taut (figure 4, page 35). French knot. Creates a small knot. Great for filling in flower centers and adding texture to your design. Bring your needle up through the fabric at your starting point. Catch the floss on your needle and wrap it around the needle twice, holding the floss taut. Point the needle through the knot and push into the fabric close to the starting point, pulling the knot tight as you go (figure 5, page 35). 3. Finish the hoop. Trim the fabric around the underside edges of the hoop.
